We believe in using math and science to better people’s lives and improve the success of their companies.

Gary Saarenvirta, MASc

Gary Saarenvirta, MASc

CEO

Gary evangelizes about the societal benefits of machine learning and leads Daisy Intelligence Corporation’s research and development team.

His love of math and science began in public school where he was called motor mouth and was banned from playing math flash cards because none of the other kids got a turn.  Flash cards turned into punch cards (yes he’s that old!) and parallel computing meant driving back and forth to computers at all his friend’s houses to run jobs and get his computational aerospace assignments done. Thanks to Moore’s Law, all of our computers are in one spot now.  He still has a motor mouth that rarely stops.

Gary is the former head of IBM Canada’s analytics and data warehousing practices. He was also at the helm of Loyalty Consulting Group, providing analytical services for one of the world’s most successful coalition loyalty programs, the AIR MILES® Reward Program. Prior to his leadership role at Loyalty Consulting Group, Gary built the company’s first generation data warehouse and BI platform.

Gary holds both a BASc and MASc in aerospace engineering from the University of Toronto.

Dean Pacey

Dean Pacey

Partner, VP Business Development

Dean grew up in a family grocery business in Northern Ontario where he freaked out customers by adding up grocery bills in his head and making change faster than most adults could believe. He liked money and math so he went off to business school and ended up working in telecommunications companies like AT&T, Cannect Communications and ACC in various progressive sales and marketing roles for over 25 years. Along the way, he co-founded an internet based prepaid long-distance company and had a few other entrepreneurial adventures: some good, some not so great. In 2000, he joined RIM and rose to become a Global VP responsible for sales, marketing, retail and enterprise channels within carriers groups like AT&T, Rogers and T-Mobile. As part of his adventure, he lived in Europe for a number of years and was responsible for expanding Blackberry into Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe and managed the Deutsche Telekom relationship globally. He left RIM in 2010 and has been an active investor, mentor and consultant as well as a part-time lecturer in the business school at WLU. He joined Daisy Intelligence Corporation’s Board in 2014 and is now operational as a Partner and VP of Business Development.
